Genesis

Genesis oznacza początek, źródło. Według Księgi Genesis, Bóg kreował świat według ustalonego porządku, etapami w ciągu siedmiu dni. Pierwszego dnia stworzył niebo i ziemię, ustanowił jasność i ciemność. Drugiego oddzielił od siebie wody i utworzył niebo. Od tego momentu ziemia składała się z oceanów, mórz i suchego lądu. Na lądzie panowała ogromna cisza, w tle było słychać jedynie wiatr i odgłosy fal. To dlatego Bóg trzeciego dnia stworzył drzewa i inne rośliny, w tym przepiękne kwiaty. Czwartego dnia zaświeciły ciała niebieskie – słońce, księżyc  i gwiazdy. Piątego dnia stworzył wszelkie gatunki zwierząt, a szóstego  zwierzęta lądowe oraz człowieka, na swój obraz i podobieństwo. Siódmy dzień był dla Boga dniem odpoczynku.

Miasto rozwija się również  etapami, najpierw pojawia się wyraźny podział na części komunikacyjne, mieszkaniowe, rekreacyjne, usługowe, a na końcu dopiero wypełnia się niezagospodarowane przestrzenie  roślinnością. Potrzebujemy roślin nie tylko dla estetyki, ale również ze względu na tlen, który produkują, a nam jest niezbędny do życia.

Możemy próbować panować  nad przyrodą, możemy się odgradzać, ale ona zawsze znajdzie sposób na rozwój – nieważne jak bardzo staramy się ją ujarzmić, wcześniej czy później  zawładnie przestrzenią. Przyroda jest w ciągłej ekspansji. Zebrałam w cykl obrazy świata roślin, który powstawał na moich oczach prawie 2 lata. Zdjęcia te były częścią i niejednokrotnie powodem spacerów w pobliżu mojego domu.

‘Genesis’ means a beginning, a source. According to the Bible’s Genesis, God created the world in a strict order and stage by stage through seven days. On the first day God created Heaven and Earth, as well as lightness and darkness. On the second day, he separated waters and created Heaven. From this day the Earth had oceans, seas, and land. There was a great silence on the land, and in the background only wind and waves could be heard. This was the reason why on the third day God created trees and other plants, including beautiful flowers. On the fourth day the celestial bodies shined for the first time: the Sun, the Moon, and the stars. On the fifth day God created all the species of animals, while the following day  he created land animals and the human being, in his image and likeness. God considered the seventh day the time for relaxation.

Cities are developed in stages, too. First of all, there is a significant division into communication, residential, recreational, and service parts. Finally, the undeveloped spaces are filled with plants. We need them not only for the aesthetics, but also because they produce oxygen which we need to live.

We can try to control the nature, we can separate ourselves, but it will always find its own way to grow – no matter how we try to cut its claws, sooner or later, it will seize the space. The nature expands itself all the time. I created a collection of images which present the world of plants, which had been growing before my very eyes for almost 2 years. These photos were the effect and often the reason why I went for walks near my house.
